The Miniature Poodle Wins "Best in Show" at 148th Westminster Dog Show
In the glitz and glamor of the 2024 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, where dreams are chased and champions are crowned, one unexpected contender stood out from the rest, stealing not just the judge's attention, but the hearts of dog lovers everywhere. Her name is Sage, a beautiful Miniature Westminster Poodle from Texas who has won best in show at this year's prestigious dog show.
Imagine over 2,500 dogs, from all over, gathering in New York City for a shot at glory. Among them, Sage, ranked a modest 39th among all show dogs, seemed like an underdog. But hey, it's not about size, it's about heart and Sage's got plenty of that!
Do you think Sage's journey to the top was primarily driven by flawless grooming and impeccable training, or was it more about the undeniable bond between human and canine? What's your take on this?
Behind the Scene
Here's where things get interesting. Sage wasn't just any ordinary Poodle. She hailed from a lineage of champions, with a great-grandmother named Spice who had clinched the title back in 2002. Talk about keeping it in the family 🙂
Sage’s handler Kaz Hosaka said after the win, it was his last show after 45 Westminster competitions.
“It took me 22 years to win the first best in show. Took me another 22 years, today, to win second best in show.”
Sage, the 3-year-old champion will also retire, granting her more time for the things she loves, such as indulging in delicious chicken treats 😋
